Science
Science at Scarisbrick Hall is taught in a purpose built block. Biology ,Chemistry and Physics are studied as separate subjects which enables the students to develop their interest in a particular area as well as being able to obtain an overview of Science. The GCSE syllabus is begun in Year 9 which enables more students to pursue the 3 Separate Sciences to this level.
Our approach is based on practical work so that the pupils develop skills for learning and for life. The new GCSE syllabus has a heavy weighting on ‘How Science Works’ so it is essential that they develop these skills from an early stage.
We aim to foster an awareness of our delightful environment by taking every year group out into the grounds, as often as
possible, to study the flora and fauna. We also aim to keep abreast of topical issues by making students aware, through study of the media, the effects of Man on his Environment. This study makes the students more aware of the effect of their life style on the environment and engender a positive attitude towards conserving their surroundings for the future.
