Modern Languages

In the College pupils study French and Spanish.  At the end of Year 9 they are encouraged to continue with at least one language when they embark on Key Stage 4. In keeping with the personalised approach to learning, pupils are entered at the GCSE level appropriate to their needs and ability.

We see the learning of a foreign language not just as a useful skill for a future career or to enhance a leisure pursuit but also as an insight into how language functions and how other cultures compare and contrast with our own.

For this reason we believe that every child should be given the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the widest field possible. If a pupil does encounter difficulties, thanks to our small class sizes, help is readily available and solutions can be adapt
