Scarisbrick Hall First School

Sport plays a large part of life in the First School. Our philosophy for these young children is to provide them with as much variety of opportunity as possible, so that they can develop a breadth of skills which they can transfer from one sporting activity to another. We also want the children to enjoy being active, promoting a healthy attitude towards sport and fitness.

Within curriculum time PE lessons provide a variety of activities to all age groups including: cross country, multi sports on our MUGA pitch, tag rugby, ballet, dance, gymnastics, football, netball, tennis, swimming, athletics & hockey. We also offer opportunities to compete in Inter-House events as well as representing the School at regional and national sporting competitions. We encourage the children to learn to win and lose graciously.

Typically, a First School pupil will be able to enjoy a curriculum PE lesson each week, plus an E3 Sport session in curriculum time. From Year 2 to Year 4, children also attend swimming sessions once per week.
