About the role
Scarisbrick Hall School provides high quality and extensive outdoor learning opportunities for children as an integral part of the curriculum. These take place on our 50-acre site. We are looking for a Forest School practitioner who is passionate about outdoor learning and abut creating meaningful experiences for children in nature. The successful candidate will join our team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a Level 2 or Level 3 Forest School qualification (or equivalent qualifications and experience) who thrives in an outdoor, nature-based learning environment, working with similarly minded adults and enthusiastic children. A Beach School qualification and experience is also desirable.

As our Forest School practitioner, you will help lead our Forest School and Outdoor Learning sessions, fostering an environment where children can learn, explore, and grow through outdoor play, teamwork and adventure. Working from 9:00 AM to 6:00PM, on Monday to Thursday and from 09:00-17:30 on Fridays to include our After School Club, (this role can also offer a year round contract to include the running of an outdoor learning focussed holiday club during the school holidays).
You will be responsible for creating safe and inspiring outdoor learning spaces, and guiding children through woodland-based and beach-based activities which help develop their physical, social, and emotional skills in our extensive woodland areas. At other points in the academic year, you would also help run a Beach School.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Help lead Forest School and Outdoor Learning sessions, ensuring that children receive an exceptional outdoor learning experience.
- Help lead Cubs activities as part of the Scarisbrick Hall School curriculum.
- Lead the After School Club wraparound care each day.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver a wide range of nature-based activities, supporting children in their individual learning journeys.
- Work closely with the First School and Middle School teams to maintain high standards of practice, ensuring that sessions are safe and enriching.
- Supervise and monitor children aged 0-11 years, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on children’s progress and achievements.
- Support school marketing events with visiting children and parents.
- Support the development of the Outdoor Learning environment, incorporating the natural world into the children’s play and learning experiences.
- Have the opportunity to help run a fun an enriching Outdoor Learning holiday club during school holidays.
