I am frequently asked how I measure the success of our school. My response is simple, by the success and development of our pupils. This is not just in terms of academic achievement (which we are rightly proud of), but who they are and the impact that they have on the world once they leave our school.

Being an alumnus of Scarisbrick Hall, I understand the impact that our school can have on the lives and aspirations of our pupils. When I meet other fellow alumni, there is a sense of being part of a timeless family who have shared a common journey together. The memories of The Great Hall, house tournaments, sharing stories and experiences about previous years create a powerful history of our wonderful school.

Our alumni continue to support the school directly and can be called upon to guide and mentor pupils (both past and present).

Nisha Katona

——

Alumna Nisha Katona is the founder and CEO of Mowgli Street Food restaurants and The Mowgli Trust, which donates over £500k annually to local and global charities. After leaving a 20-year career as a Barrister, Nisha used her savings to open the first Mowgli restaurant in Liverpool in 2014. She has since expanded to 16 locations nationwide, with a mission to enrich lives in every city she enters.

Mowgli Street Food is recognized as one of the UK’s fastest-growing companies and one of the 100 Best Large Companies to Work For. Nisha was awarded an MBE in 2019 for her contributions to the food industry. She’s also an author of four cookbooks and a TV food and business expert.

In March 2018, we welcomed Nisha back to Scarisbrick Hall School, where she gave an inspirational talk to our Sixth Form students about her career and passion for Indian food.

Valerie Tchikhiaeva

Valerie is a former Head Girl who attended Scarisbrick Hall School from 2010-2015, Since leaving Scarisbrick Hall, Valerie has completed a law undergraduate degree at Westminster University in London and subsequently, completing the Bar of England and Wales with a specialism within international trade law.

She then studied a Master’s degree regarding the effects of autonomous ships on the law of International Trade. Whilst studying, she has secured a job at the UK Cabinet Office as a Paralegal. She recently became In House Paralegal for Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry

I continue to strive for bigger goals and higher position in my career and will always remember Scarisbrick’s role during my teenage years”

Tommy Fleetwood

Alumni Tommy Fleetwood began playing golf at a young age, even sneaking onto Royal Birkdale with his father as a child. Nearly two decades later, in 2017, he made the cut there in the Open. At 20, he became the youngest player to win the European Challenge Tour Rankings after winning the Kazakhstan Open.

Tommy made a record-breaking Ryder Cup debut, winning four points out of four alongside Francesco Molinari, leading Team Europe to victory. In 2019, he launched the Tommy Fleetwood Golf Academy to inspire young golfers and won the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa. He also represented Great Britain in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

We were honoured to have Tommy return to Scarisbrick Hall School for Awards Day in 2014 and again in 2020 for a live Q&A with our pupils, sharing his journey and success.

Lord Dr Michael Hastings

Lord Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE, is the former Global Head of Corporate Citizenship for KPMG International.

Previously the BBC’s Head of Public Affairs, Hastings began his career as a teacher and has held many other senior positions. He served for nine years on the Board for Responsible and Sustainable Business at British Telecom (BT) and was the board of director at Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Lord Michael Hastings is also a crossbencher in Parliament. In 2005 Lord Hastings was awarded peerage to the House of Lords, and also in that same year, Hastings achieved the UNICEF award for his outstanding contribution to understanding and effecting solutions for Africa’s children.
