Ensembles at Scarisbrick Hall School
We have a wide range of ensembles on offer at Scarisbrick Hall School which give opportunities to pupils from beginner to advanced. We believe that participation in a music ensemble develops a pupil’s musicianship in addition to social skills and is essential in a well rounded education. We offer chamber ensembles and large ensembles for a variety of age ranges and all our ensembles perform regularly throughout the year. This culminates with the Senior Orchestra and a selection of our choirs lead by the Chamber Choir performing in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall at Awards Day and in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Liverpool whilst the Junior Ensembles and Chamber Groups perform at a variety of school events.
We have a range of excellent choirs directed by our Choral Director, Mr Danny Townley, which build on the excellent choral culture within the school. Our flagship ensemble is the Scarisbrick Hall Chamber Choir, which is only open to years 7 and above and is invite-only. They rehearse weekly and perform regularly at the main school events and in the music concerts. We are also committed to choral singing in the school by providing students with weekly timetabled choir sessions for every year up to year 6. We also have a year 5/6 choir and a Year 7/8 choir open to all students in those years regardless of ability designed for students with a passion for singing.
We have two orchestras available to students throughout the school. The Scarisbrick Hall School Orchestra is our senior ensemble and is open to any students of grade 3 standard or higher. This ensemble rehearses weekly and performs at the school awards day and Christmas Carol service in addition to regular concerts throughout the year. We also run a Training Orchestra open to pupils from grade 1 standard designed to give pupils the opportunity to learn the basics of ensemble playing, keeping in time, following a conductor and enjoying making music with others!
We are passionate about Chamber music and we run a large variety of small ensembles which include; Jazz Ensemble, Junior and Senior Brass Ensembles, Woodwind Ensemble, Rock Group, Percussion Ensemble, Keyboard Club. All our chamber groups get the opportunity to perform throughout the year at school concerts and they are directed by one of our outstanding team of Visiting Music Teachers. We are very keen for pupils to create chamber music ensembles and perform together and can provide chamber music coaching to ensembles as they get started.
