At Scarisbrick Hall School, our small class sizes and formidable teaching team create an atmosphere that encourages independent learning and freedom of expression. Our focus is not only about helping them to maximise their academic potential but, also preparing them for the transition to higher education.
We like to call this the ‘Pre-University’ experience. In effect, we treat Years 12 and 13 as a preparatory phase laying the foundations for an enjoyable and truly fulfilling time at university. Our unique RIVER learning philosophy encourages our students to become resilient, independent and self-disciplined against a nurturing backdrop of academic, pastoral and sporting support from our dedicated team of specialists. Indeed, no stone is left unturned to make the step up to higher education as seamless as possible.
Unique opportunities to prepare for higher education
At Scarisbrick Hall School we offer unique opportunities to our Sixth Form cohort. Each year, we invite leading academics from top universities to talk about their specialist areas of expertise with our students in our Great Hall Lecture Series events. From mountain climbers to space scientists, from criminal law to biochemistry, this lecture series provides inspiration for our students at every turn.
In addition to the Great Hall Lecture Series, we also have personalised mentoring and a Sixth Form Wellbeing Programme which help pupils to develop the independence and confidence needed to make the most of their abilities and prepare and select options for future education or employment.
By the time our students come to leave our Sixth Form, students not only have the deep subject specific knowledge and independent thought required for higher education but also a strong sense of ‘self’ that enables them to flourish both academically and socially. The vast majority of our pupils move on to their first choice university and thrive, thanks to our carefully tailored ‘Pre-University’ experience.
