Here at Scarisbrick Hall School, sports are an integral and essential part of life from when our pupils join us in First School, all the way up to Sixth Form. This is why we are thrilled to announce that our sporting provision for our Sixth Form students is about to grow prodigiously. Discover how from the Summer onwards, our Sixth Form students will have more sporting opportunities than ever before with weekly training from professional athletes and brand new fixtures competing weekly against other schools.
Why sport is so important at Scarisbrick Hall School
A strong academic provision is a key element to life at Scarisbrick Hall School, however this is expertly underpinned by our pastoral care and sporting opportunities. Rugby and Netball have always been our core sports, in addition to Hockey and Football, all of which are offered alongside our specialist sport clubs including Fencing, Taekwondo and Cricket.
Our main focus within our school sports offering is teaching pupils a broad, balanced sports programme which is tailored to each individual and prepares children for a lifelong involvement in physical activity which will promote confidence, health and wellbeing.
What’s new for Sixth Form?
Our Sixth Form has been growing over the last few years, with student numbers increasing each year. With this in mind, it was important for us to reevaluate our sporting provision in line with this.
With Rugby, Football and Netball being our core sports, we are excited that our fixture program and performance pathways within Sixth Form will now be further developed through our specialist coaches Adam Jackson, Nathan Quirk and Rebekah Airey.
Rugby with Adam Jackson
We are delighted Adam Jackson, our Head of Rugby at Scarisbrick Hall School will be dedicating more time to training and developing the sport & pathways with our Sixth Form students. As an ex-professional Premiership rugby player and coach he has been heavily involved in the success of our school’s rugby development over the last few years.
Adam will be running weekly training sessions and introducing fixtures so our students can develop their talent and skills for this fast-paced sport.
Football with Nathan Quirk
We are delighted to introduce weekly football fixtures for our Sixth Form students, supported by our resident TCM coach Nathan Quirk who has previously coached at Manchester City Football Club and has experience training with Liverpool FCs First Team. These fixtures, supported by weekly training sessions will improve physical, mental, and social well-being, encouraging and maintaining our students’ interest in football.
Netball with Rebekah Airey
Rebekah Airey is a professional netball player who currently plays for Superleague champions Manchester Thunder. Rebekah will be running weekly training sessions for any of our Sixth Form cohort who wish to enjoy a recreational interest in netball whilst boosting their confidence, health and wellbeing.
We will also be introducing weekly netball fixtures, so that our students can play competitively, catering for all abilities.
