Celebrating 60 Years of Educational Excellence: Scarisbrick Hall School’s Diamond Anniversary

This year marks an extraordinary milestone for Scarisbrick Hall School as we proudly celebrate our 60th anniversary on 15th September 2024. Over the past six decades, we have built a legacy of educational excellence, innovation, and community spirit. As we reflect on our rich history and the incredible achievements of our students and staff, we also look forward to the exciting future that lies ahead.

A Legacy Rooted in History and Tradition

Nestled within the stunning architecture of Scarisbrick Hall, our school’s heritage is truly one of a kind. The 150-room mansion, designed between 1830 and 1860 by the renowned architect Augustus Pugin—famous for his work on the Palace of Westminster—stands as a remarkable example of Gothic Renaissance architecture. The iconic 75 ft tower, which served as the model for Big Ben, remains a centrepiece of our campus.

The Hall’s deep connection to the Scarisbrick family, who lived here for over 700 years, adds to the rich tapestry of our school’s history. Their lasting legacy can still be felt throughout the estate, including the expansive Scarisbrick Park, a Grade II listed private estate that remains a symbol of their enduring impact on the area.

Scarisbrick Hall School: Six Decades of Educational Excellence

Since 1964, Scarisbrick Hall has served as the home of Scarisbrick Hall School, an independent educational institution founded by Charles Oxley. Over the years, the school has grown, evolved, and adapted to meet the needs of a changing world, yet we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a world-class education.

Our alumni stand as a testament to the strength of our school community. Notable former students include professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood, acclaimed chef Nisha Katona, and esteemed philanthropist Lord Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick, CBE. Their incredible contributions in their respective fields highlight the impact Scarisbrick Hall School has had on shaping future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

Lord Michael Hastings, a tireless advocate for social justice and global development, exemplifies the values we strive to instill in our students. His achievements inspire us to continue fostering an environment where young people can develop not only academically, but also in character and leadership.

A Vision for the Future

As we celebrate our past, we are also focused on the future. Scarisbrick Hall School has exciting plans to enhance our facilities to ensure that we continue providing a first-rate educational environment. Our upcoming projects include the redevelopment of our original school building and the construction of a state-of-the-art sports facility. These developments will not only benefit our students but will also serve as valuable resources for the local community.

In recent years, the creation of the Oak Theatre and studios has added a dynamic new chapter to our school’s legacy. This creative hub now provides a space for community performances, dance schools, rehearsals, and arts-related activities. The Oak Theatre underscores our commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration, both within our student body and the wider community.

Join Us in Celebrating 60 Years

Our 60th anniversary is more than just a celebration of the past; it’s a call for our entire community to come together and look ahead to the next chapter in our school’s journey.

We invite all former students, families, and friends of the school to join us in these celebrations. Whether you’re an alum eager to reconnect, or a current student excited about the school’s future, there’s something for everyone during this special year.

“As both the Headmaster and a proud alumnus of Scarisbrick Hall School, this 60th anniversary is deeply meaningful to me,” says Mr. Shaw. “For 60 years, our school has shaped lives, built friendships, and inspired dreams. This celebration is not just about looking back, but also about embracing our future.

As we reflect on our history, we also look ahead to the future with optimism and excitement. Our current students continue to build on the legacy that so many of you helped create, and it is my hope that our diamond anniversary will remind us of all the enduring impact Scarisbrick Hall School has had across the world. I warmly invite all former students to join us in this celebration—your connection to the school is as vital as ever, and together, we can ensure that the next generation of students continues to thrive.” – Jeff Shaw, Headmaster and Alumnus of Scarisbrick Hall School
